Join SQ and get credit for learning to produce an ongoing comedy series! 

This four week course will help you understand how to begin a long form scene. Constructing a world with strong characters and relationships that will support both comedic and storytelling purposes. Good improv is also a good acting. This class will help support and sharpen your acting skills by keeping you in “the moment” with honest reactions. Oh yeah and it’s a lot of fun!

Matthew began his improv journey at the Upright Citizens Brigade (LA) in 2015 and the Box (ABQ) in 2016, he finished both curriculums. He is currently finishing up the final Core class with the Impro Theatre (LA) in Narrative Improv. Film credits include: Only the Brave, 12 Strong, Big Kill, Commando, Fast Color and more. TV credits: The Night Shift, Roswell, Briarpatch, Longmire, Preacher, Get Shorty and more. Theatre credits: Orlando in As You Like it (NM Shakespeare Festival), Antipholous of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors (NM Shakespeare Festival)Chris Keller in All My Sons (Adobe Theatre)Kenneth in The Night Alive (The Cell), Christopher Wren in Mousetrap (ALT) and many more. He hails from Thermopolis, WY and studied theatre at the University of Wyoming.

Story Basics

Script analysis

Budgeting and scheduling

Cost cutting techniques

Financing and festivals

​Liz Reeder Neubauer:

 A 40 year veteran of the business, trained in New York (La Mama, Neighborhood Playhouse, Actors Institute) and Los Angeles

(Beverly Hills Playhouse, Actors Studio). As a director, producer and writer, her work has been seen on (among other places)

NBC, ABC, PBS, Comedy Central, and screened at festivals including SXSW, Tribeca and Cannes. Liz runs Studio E, one of

Austin’s most recommended performing arts studios for over 14 years. 

 Get ready for total impact, as students leave this class falling in love with acting and blasting into the film and tv industry.

Concerning COVID-19

Sol Acting Studios is doing everything we can to protect our community, students and staff. To this extent, Sol Acting Studios

will be following the Center of Disease-Control (CDC) with regard to social distancing practices and sanitation. We ask that

our clients disclose their recent history and continue to implement masking and social distancing guidelines.   All students

participating in in-person classes will be asked to sign a liability release waiver to ensure the safety of fellow students. 

Classes will not exceed 12 students and distancing measures and mask wearing will be enforced.
